We Survived Prep 2020 Party!

Its hard to believe that the first year of school is over for my little human. We only have 12 more to go. That's 12 more years of school lunch's to pack, oh boy. But for now I'll enjoy the nice break from that and embrace the 4 breakfasts before 9 am daily, lol.

This year really has been a ride and we didn't get to celebrate much at all. Early in march we were forced to cancel the small humans birthday party. Due to the world being hit by a pandemic, we locked down and loved each other that little bit more. So as Australia has started to reopen and restrictions pulled back, when my small human asked me if he could have Christmas party, I said how about we have a "we survived prep 2020" party on the last day of school (they finished at 11) .

So it began, the planning. I had been dying to try a balloon garland for a while, so I had found my perfect excuse. I knew I had to do this a few days in advance just to make sure I got it right, and boy am I glad I did, cause that was a test of my skills. I went with a 100 balloon rainbow design, it turned out really well. I'll put some photos and the video in the post below. My tips for the balloon garland would be.

  1. Electric pump

  2. Make the balloons all different sizes

  3. After inflating balloons, give them a little push on ground for that nice circle shape

Moving on. Each child that came was gifted a personalized drink bottle with their name on it. I found these brilliant bottles at Kmart. The inside has part you freeze and keeps the drink cool. I used my wonderful Cricut to make the vinyl stickers for these bottles. The party was planned to be an outside event, so the general theme for this was water play and water activities. It meant we got to get the big inflatable water side out and have a big water balloon and foam fight. This was a real hit with the kids, they had so much fun they finished the water play off with a water gun fight and loads of bubbles.

Products I used for water play

  1. Happy hop inflatable water slide

  2. FUNatic Foam 340ml Assorted

  3. Zuru bunch water balloons

  4. $ 1 bubbles Kmart

  5. Water Guns

  6. Kmart 430ml Blue Mini Flared Drink Bottle

Food wise it was very simple. Kids love anything they think is chocolate. I aim to get some good stuff in to them as well, but we did still have all those not so good things just for good balance

  1. Natural chip co veggie rings

  2. Chocolate sweet potato brownie's

  3. Grain waves

  4. Simple Fruit platter

  5. Fairy bread

  6. Chocolate zucchini cup cakes / Butte cream icing

  7. Allen's lollies

I also provided a hot food platter for lunch this contained

  1. Dawg dogs

  2. My homemade vegetable filled Sausage rolls

  3. Party pies

  4. Muffin ham & pineapple pizzas

  5. Chicken nuggets

Overall everybody left with big smiles and ready for an early bed time. It was a fabulous way to end the school year.

Now off to start on the Christmas cooking!
