Frugal February part 4
Well loves, we made it to the last week of frugal February, and what a fun time it has been. I hope you have all enjoyed coming along for the ride and maybe you even had a go at cutting things down in your home. So, it’s safe to say I managed to stay under budget for the hole 4 weeks how exciting is that I managed to save $256.45 on groceries this month. That’s a whole week and a bit saved, yay. I am going to continue to track my spending and see where we end up. Maybe I’ll be able to cut it down to $150 completely in the coming months so stay tuned for that.
The big question here is how did I spend the last week of frugal February??? I took this week off study to get my house and myself in order, finding the routine I have been so desperately needing. I may look like I have it all together but, damn I have been on the hot mess express for a few weeks now, lol. So this week I found myself finding the grove and really grounding myself with a few new habits I have formed throughout frugal February. I have also decluttered loads of different spaces in the house and implemented a few new things to help keep things in check. I am starting to sound like a drill sergeant here, lol. So, what are these habits you ask???
Keeping minimal items
Only buying items we will eat
Cleaning schedule
When I say keeping minimal items, I am referring to example A, the linen space. We had so many different items in there. Things we had been hording around since we had spread our wings and left the nest many moons ago. So now in the linen press you will find
6 Towels
3 Small human towels
2 set of sheets for each bed
5 face washers
3 hand towels
7 tea towels
3 bathmats
I will disclose that we keep all our beach towels and guest towels down in the laundry and guest area. Along with set of sheets for our guest space. I already feel so much lighter getting rid of the excess items we were holding on to.
About the cleaning schedule now, and I have made this up to suit my household by dividing the chores into.
Daily
weekly
monthly
annual
This it to help me around my studies and being able to deliver blogs and recipes on time to all my wonderful followers. How I have designed my cleaning schedule is breaking my house into days, so each day has a certain part of the house I will deep clean. Then there is daily cleaning tasks. They may include
load of washing
Take bins out
empty dishwasher
spot mop and vacuum (I am blessed I have vac and mop in one)
making all beds
Some of the weekly jobs
All towels and bathmats washed
A big deep vacuum with the big hoover
Wash all sheets
Some of the monthly jobs are.
Clean coffee machine
clean fridge shelves
Clean couches with spot cleaner
Some of the more annual jobs we do are
Wash all curtains
wipes down all the walls
wipe down pantry insides
There are so many other things we do as well, but I’d be here for hours trying to tell you them all. I could attach a photo of what we do now, it may seem like a lot of cleaning. But I will disclose that unfortunately I am allergic to dust and dust mites so keeping on top of that is a big thing for me and my small human is an asthmatic so keeping the dust away is something we try to do the best we can. It works for us and we share the workload. My main goal is to come home from school drop off do my PT, do my daily cleaning and chip away at the other sections on the list then sit down to study and work on my content to bring to all you lovely people. So, if there something frugal February did for me for me it brought not only financial savings, but grounding in life.
So next week is overly exciting I will be dropping our new series of recipes and the theme we have gone with, so stay tuned.
I Hope frugal February has been helpful for all if not somewhat entertaining. And for those playing along I have had breakfast today, lol ….
