Frugal February part 3

Ahh I cannot believe we are over halfway through February. It feels like I blinked and here I was. There is a high chance I am just chilling on auto polit lol. I am finally finding my groove again, it has been a hot minute. So frugal February has been chugging along nicely. Ill get to the budget shortly.

This week I have been back in the kitchen and we have headed back into the test phase of recipes. As we head to the end of the month you will start to see small clues about what the theme of the next lot of recipes is and I can tell you it has been a highly requested topic for a while. EEEEEEK exciting times, I love bringing you new things. So, let us get into part 3 of frugal February shall we.

So, our budget is in this week and we came in under again I am overly excited about. This week we spent $147.89 we shopped at Woolworths again this week. They had some awesome specials this week and we got our little seedlings. Anyone else collecting these? Lol. so this week I have really been focused on using what we have here in the fridge, freezer, and pantry, it’s been going well. I have made

Pumpkin Soup

A Beef Casserole

Cheesy garlic bread

A clean version of a big mac

That is right, you just read that I made a clean big mac with what I had in my house. I must bring this recipe to the blog soon as it was delicious and a lot cheaper then going to Maccas itself.

But I did not bring you here to discuss big mac. I want to talk to you about a method. Meal prep. One thing I have found over the years is that I buy whole fruit and vegetables and they get lost in the back of the fridge. It is like a bloody dungeon, goes in and never comes out, lol. So over the years I have made more of a conscious effort not to meal prep wholemeal (This is also handy) but to prep my fruit and vegetables taking that time to slice the onions, carrots and strawberries, that way I am not overlooking it because there are times where I am like gosh, I cannot be bothered to cut the watermelon or why did I not just buy the bag of lettuce instead of a whole lettuce. By implementing this small meal prep to my weekly to do list I save future me a whole lot of time later and because I am not losing them in my dungeon of a fridge, I am also saving money and the 2 other humans in my house are definitely ‘if they can see it front centre, they’re going to eat it’ kind of humans, they are not going to slay the half mushed watermelon to see what behind it lol.

I also like to have homemade ready meals in my freezer for those night when things do not go to plan or even when I am just lazy and do not want to spend time cooking. Also to stop me from uber eats, yes, I fall victim to that. There is this one taco place that has my soul, that’s for sure, lol. So any left-over main meal we have gets put into containers and frozen down.

In the next few weeks, I am going to be doing some other sort of meal preps like breakfast etc, but I think I will put all that into a blog and show you what new habit I am creating to save time and money in the food department, and to help me stay on track with my new eating routines. Turns out I need to start having breakfast. Coffee does not count, but it’s saving lives, lol.

Also, I have attached the meals I made this week below.

Till next time keep drinking coffee and stay safe
