Sunday Sanity Prep

Hello and welcome to the confinements of rest. It has been a week and I am still trying to catch up with everything that has taken place. One minute I am off at play date hang outs, the next minute I am in hospital in disbelief that I am about to go through my health problems from the start, again. But unfortunately, this is the hand I was delt and I will be ok, because everyone in my specialist team is finally on the same page #wearegettingsomewhere. It’s only taken 15 months, but who’s counting, right?

On another note, school holidays have ended and it is time to get back to the craziness of it all. So let’s talk back to school prep. In my household I like to be ready for making school lunch. Things can get real crazy of a morning with the “mum have you seen this, mum I do not want to wear the socks” and the list goes on, lol. So, on Sunday I like to do what I call sanity prep along with the normal iron and polish the shoes kind of gig. It takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops and saves me a hell of a lot of time and thinking power of a school morning. So today I am going to share with you my sanity prep ideas.

1.       I cut up all the fruit/ vegetables I am going to use that week

2.       I bake the items I am planning for the week

3.       I make a batch of jelly lollies (recipe is in kids’ recipe)

4.       I take out any items I am using from the freezer stash

5.       I poach chicken, if that what is requested for lunches

6.       Bake bread, if its being used for lunches in that week

I find by having these items ready to go it is a quick throw together in the lunch box kind of morning and saves me having to think about what we have, where is it and do I need to prep it. And it allows me to be present in the “I don’t want to” and “where is this” game all while I consume/inhale my coffee while it’s still hot, lol. I am all about that coffee life. I’ll add some photos below of what prep I did this week to help the morning routine.

Something else I do, because I am that super lucky human, is iron uniforms. I feel all you humans who must iron the uniform weekly. After my shirts come out of the wash, I hang them up to dry on the coat hangers. This, 98% of the time, reduces the wrinkles and I just press down my collars and iron my shorts and Bob’s my uncle. I am all about saving time but also having the job done correctly.

Well, this week is just a short little blog as I am still not 100%. My apologies if this has not been the fun light-hearted jokes all around kind of blog we are all very use to but I’ll bring my A game next week, scout’s honour. I hope everyone has a lovely first week back if you are headed back to school or if not just have super fabulous week anyway...

If you haven’t already gone and looked, check out the beautiful Anzac Slice I have added to the blog this week. It really is delightful all year around.

Stay Safe
